Peach Cobbler

A rich fruit based dessert made with whole wheat flour, comes together in minutes. Impress your guests with this sumptuous dessert.

Ingredients

Filling

  • 12 small fresh peaches or 6 large peaches or 1 large can of whole peaches(sliced)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder can use upto 1 tsp
  • 3 tbsp unrefined cane sugar

Batter or crust

  • 170 gms whole wheat flour
  • 170 ml fresh milk
  • 100 gms unsalted butter melted
  • 1 pinch salt
  • tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • ¾ cup unrefined cane sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Serving

  • vanilla ice cream as required

Instructions

  • Take an 8x8inch baking dish, apply butter all over and set aside

For the filling

  • Wash and peel the skin of peaches and slice them. If using canned peaches, just slice them and use.
  • Add cinnamon and sugar to the sliced peaches and mix well, arrange them in the prepared baking dish. Set aside.

Preparing the batter

  • Pre-heat the oven to 180° C.
  • Sift the flour, salt and baking powder into a bowl. Add sugar and melted butter to the bowl and mix well. Add the egg and milk and mix well until everything is incorporated.
  • Pour this batter onto the arranged peaches and bake for 30-35 mins or until the tooth pick inserted into the topping(crust) comes out clean.
  • Serve hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
